2023 COVID-19 booster dose

ATAGI recommends a 2023 COVID-19 vaccine booster dose for adults in the following groups

  • All adults aged 65 years and over
  • Adults aged 18-64 years who have medical comorbidities that increase their risk of severe COVID-19, or disability with significant or complex health needs.
 

ATAGI advises the following groups should consider a 2023 booster dose:

  • All Adults aged 18-64 years without risk factors for severe COVID-19
  • Children and adolescents aged 5-17 years who have medical comorbidities that increase their risk of severe COVID-19, or disability with significant or complex health needs.

Eligibility

6 Months since your last COVID-19 vaccine dose

OR

6 Months since your last confirmed infection (whichever is the most recent)

When Is the 2023 Booster Available?

We will begin offering boosters from Monday 6th March 2023 at Criniti Medical Practice.

Vaccine type

We will be offering Pfizer Bivalent vaccine for boosters.

ATAGI recommends mRNA bivalent vaccines as a booster.

After Your Vaccination

After receiving any vaccine, you may experience minor side effects. Most side effects are mild and last no more than a few days.

Common reactions to COVID-19 vaccinations include:

  • a sore arm
  • headache
  • low level fever
  • muscle pain
  • chills
  • tiredness, or
  • joint pain.
